Summer Skirt

I finally had a chance to get some pics and wear one of the skirts I have been working on this year. This is the ever super easy 5 minute skirt by Amy over at Angry Chicken. While the skirt does take a tad longer than 5 minutes to make, it is a very fast project to sew. Just take an afternoon and presto......new skirt! The fabric was a simple batik print that I found at the local fabric shop. This pattern has become a staple in my simple summer living wardrobe. I think I have made 3 of them by now. Now if only the warm weather would stick around!

A Day At The Museum

While on break from school, we hit our public museum. They had a fun exhibit on Dinosaurs. What could be more fun then running around trying new things and roaring at the top of your lungs??
J.D.'s personal fav. was the "robot" T-Rex. Complete with noise. He thought it was very cool! Rory ran around from one Dino station to the next. I did my best to keep up. I would say that it was a great morning and fun was had by all.

Rainy Days and Mondays

It is a rainy and chilly day today. To get through a case of the Monday's I am thinking of cottage week that will happen this summer. Can't wait for campfires, fishing, eating, laughing, and new experiences.

Chick, Sticks, and Sips....

Sipping and Knitting

We had a special Easter weekend this year. My sis flew in for the weekend and we had a gals knitting weekend. We hit the local yarn shops and then settled in to knit our day away. Actually we knit well into the night as well. Projects ranged from dishcloths, sweater, socks, and the clapotis. We worked on swifting yarns in the stash while talking and sipping cosmos. Anna and I worked hard on getting our clapotis projects started. I really love how the yarn is knitting up. Can't wait till this is finished!!
Swifting some stash!

More Summer Skirts - The Addiction Continues

Summer sewing is still going on. I have some lovely linen that is calling to be made into a wrap skirt. I am going to make the waistband and maybe trim the skirt in the print (Joel Dewberry). Hopefully there will be some time to squeeze in this project. The weather is finally starting to warm up here in Michigan!!!

The Fabric Finds A Home

The results are in from the Ikea shopping trip. The fabric above is to become a new bedspread! I just need to find some brown matching material to be the boarder around this fun print. The print below will coordinate great for matching pillows.

The birdie fabric was clearly an impulse buy. There was only a yard and half left on the bolt and I could not let it go. At only 2.99/yd. how could you not take it home??? I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet, but it looks nice in the stash!!

How Very Fetching

I finally finished Fetching!! I have been meaning to get these knit up and sent to a friend of mine. Now they are DONE and I AM going to get these in mail to her. The pattern is from knitty and is very popular on Ravelry. This was a very easy knit. The pattern was easy to read and understand. I also LOVE the cable detail at the bottom. It always makes a pattern a little more exciting when you can add a cable.

The recipient is my Earth Mama Hero. She has an amazing green thumb and grows her own veggies, fruits and herbs, has chickens, cooks such wonderful meals that make you feel you good inside and out. She lives in the beautiful state of Washington (so jealous!) with her cute family. I am so glad to have her as a friend. I cannot wait to get her reaction!!

What I Did On My Spring Break.....

With Yoda as our guide, we took a trip to Ikea, just outside Chicago. As you can tell, the weather was not the best, but the force was with us.

Believe it or not, as we approached our final destination, the skies cleared and a rainbow ended at Ikea. Can you see it?? It was a sign that is was going to be a good trip.

After a busy morning of shopping and wandering around in awe at all the goodies, a slice of chocolate overload cake makes a nice reward. It also provides much needed fuel for round 2.

It was a productive trip with photos coming of fabric finds and other goodies. Lots of fun little finds and good time spent with family.

Gettin' Ready

I am gettin' ready for the big Easter/Knitting weekend that is coming up. If I plan on making the clapotis I am going to need some new stitch markers. Behold the power of Etsy and the fun things that you can find there! I found these from Rycarfty. They are going to perfect. They won't catch on the yarn, they are in lots of fun colors, and fit a variety of size needles. YEAH! I am thinking of trying to make a swatch before everyone gets here so that I have my needles all set to go. I am so looking forward to knitting and "sipping" that weekend!!
