A Calm In The Storm

Lately there are winds of change happening all round me. I feel like that person in a movie where they are standing still and the world around them is spinning out of control. I am looking for a little sanctuary until this storm passes. Where do find it??? My family and my crafting. To have your hands busy in some wonderful yarn or beautiful fabric is very calming. And there is NOTHING more reassuring that your little world is okay than a hug from your kiddos or your hubby (or super significant other). (Sigh,) I think I see some blue sky's ahead.

A little Inspiration

I have wanting to make a new skirt, but things have been so busy around here! I just have not had the gumption to go through my patterns, find a skirt and find fabric. Behold the power of the Angry Chicken blog! I have some out of print Amy Butler fabric that I thought would make a cute dress, but now I am thinking this 5 minute skirt is the way to go!!!

This fabric is from Amy's charm line and I have been waiting for SOMETHING to strike my fancy and easy to make with it. I am very excited about the easy waist! I also love any reason to use my serger! It does make life so much easier :D This will be a great new addition to my wardrob as it needs a little refreshing. Something to get me through the rest of summer. I think I am off to order the FOE for the skirt.

Call Me Ishmael

Well, not exactly...........

Wonder what is going on here at our house??

I'll bet you can guess now! We are going to getting some fish! We just set up our new aquarium this week and we are waiting for the water to get just right for new little friends. The boys are very excited and can't wait. It is a fresh water 24 gal. tank that we snagged from my sister while she was cleaning house. We all picked out a decoration for the tank. Now we are researching what kinds of fish we would like to get!

Loving You Is Easy

So I have been looking at some fantastic and fun fabric out there. I am loving the Annabella line from Tina Givens. The colors are rich and the patterns are fun and fantastic. For fall this is looking great!

Oh, but there is more......

Actually the entire line is fantastic. Just a little fabric dreaming!!

Some Happy Boys

The 4th of July was lots of fun. We spent the day as a family and enjoyed the beautiful weather, food, and just hangin'. The littlest man had fun with his balloon during almost the entire 2 hr. parade! Family came in to enjoy the festivities as well. That made for an extra special day for the kiddos!

J.D. thought that his construction helmet was a great idea. You never know when someone will get a little crazy throwing candy!! I have to say that it was a great day and next year will be even better. The boys might actually make it to see some fireworks!!!

The Great Soup Adventure!

In the summer the last thing you want to think about is making soup. I tend to miss soup and we had a couple days of some chilly weather. While we were experiencing a little nip in the air I took advantage of the situation. I had a night were my hubby was out playing golf and I wanted to make something fast and fresh. Nothing is better than items from the farmers market and some quick cuts to make a nice summer soup! The recipe is from the blog Give Peas A Chance and it is her simple Cheese tortellini soup that caught my eye. I picked up some wonderful crusty bread from the store and it was the perfect dish for that night.

My soup on the stove. It is almost ready! Filled with fresh carrots, zucchini, tortellini, organic chicken broth, and celery with some fresh herbs. It was light, but the pasta made it filling.

Reaping the rewards. While I could not quite get the kids on board, mom was very happy. My husband even enjoyed it when he got home later in the evening. Yeah for finding a summer soup!

A Time To Give

A Time To Give

I blame my friend Carrie and thank her very much for indirectly sending me to this amazing site called Global Giving , it was just so powerful. Seems crazy for a website to have that impact, but I am terrible with words and that is all I can come up with. I just felt it was time to do something, but we are on a budget and I had no idea where to start. Women's issues are close to my heart and this seemed like a chance to help out some young women and help empower them. There are LOTS of organizations out there for women and children and it is hard to choose just one. My hope is to pick a different organization every month or 2 and donate. This time I choose the following.......and I hope in some small way it helps!
