Making Progress And Time Suckage

So sorry that it has been awhile. We are slowly making progress on the kitchen. In the meantime I have been busy on ravelry looking over new knitting patterns. I am determined to make myself some wrist or hand warmers for the chilly months ahead. I am loving these from knitty
The are super cute and I think it would be a fun knit. Now to find some yummy yarn to knit this fun project with. I heart ravelry so much and it is the cause of much time suckage in my world. I figure as long as it leads to some fun projects, then things are good here. My kiddos even have fun looking at some of the projects where they may benefit as well. Now that is impressive!

Back to the kitchen. I hope to soon emerge from this craziness!! I just try to keep thinking about moving forward!

To Tile Or Not To Tile.....

I know, another post about the kitchen remodel, sorry!!! Things are moving along and now we are working on the back splash of the kitchen. There are so many cool options out there for back splash. The question is to take advantage of some fun ideas like tile, (and then what kind, color, and so on), texture paint , stainless or a stainless look. As Charlotte would say, "My Hair Hurts!" I kind of like the simple look of subway tile.

It is clean, simple and I think it can stand the test of time. There lots of fun ways to put accents in there if you want. We just don't have lots of space between the cabinet and the counter tops, so I keep thinking simple. Also we plan on painting the walls this week. I hope that by next week the floors are going in!!!

Fantastic Fall

When things get stressful I always think a day or morning spent outside makes things sooooooooo much better. We had a field trip to a local apple orchard and it was so much fun! What could be better than homemade apple cider, donuts, and apples picked right off the tree! Also it is fun to be outside running around with friends!

That Old Familiar Feeling

We have had a round of unusually warm weather here in Michigan. This week promises to cool off and become seasonal. I am missing the feeling of yummy yarn in my hands and the clacking of needles. I am ready to hunker down now that it is dark out by about 7:00 around here. I am hoping to set my sites on some fun and quick knits. I do have to knit my boys their winter hats! Always a fun project. I just hope that this year Rory will keep a hat on! In about 2 weeks we should be done with the kitchen and then let the knits begin!!!

The Helper

This remodel is taking over our lives! Our youngest is now willing to pitch in and help out. I think we are all ready to get things back to normal. He is holding our local Menards Hardware Store add. Maybe it is a hint to keep things moving along so we can have a kitchen again! I have to say that the cabinets are almost done and the entry way has been tiled!! Next week comes the counter tops and more painting. The electrician has been here, and now my lovely husband must finish patching the ceiling so we can paint and get our new lights up! Then the floor. Things are moving along and we are happy with how everything is turning out so far. I am trying to hold off on pictures until we have more progress.

They Keep Growing And Growing........

It seems like something incredible has happened all of the sudden. My children have decided to grow up a little more, and they forgot to inform their mother. I have been looking and listening to them this week and wondering what happened! These boys are speaking and moving and learning faster. They have a quick wit, and now I have to catch up to all of this. I need to talk to them a little different, I need to change up the discipline, they want to have more say in how they dress. Life is all about Star Wars, trains, and cars. NO MORE BABY TOYS! There are no more babies in this house! The high chair is outta here!!

While a part of me will miss the idea of a baby in the house, I think that I finally am ready to move on too. I am ready to enjoy a stage of great movement and exploration. While things can be a challenge in a whole new way, I am hoping that with some helpful reading material and experienced parents help, we are ready to jump into this next great stage with both feet. I am hoping to teach them new things and be apart of a new world opening up, I also hope that they can teach me just as much!

Living The Bucket

I was getting lost in blog land and I came across lots of "Bucket Lists". I thought maybe it would be fun to come up with 10 items of my own. Nothing to intense, but things that would be very attainable if I put my mind (and some money) to it. : ) So here are 10 things I would love to do before I kick the bucket. The super obvious stuff is not allowed, like watching my boys grow into wonderful, independent, successful young men. I mean, that is just a given!

1. Visit My College Roommate Who Lives In Washington

2. Renew our wedding Vows back on Maui.

3. Really, Really Learn Spanish

4. Take the family on an amazing road trip to the Tetons and Yosemite.

5. Spend time in another country giving back to those in need.

6. Visit Alaska

7. Grow a garden that we can really use!

8. Learn to intarsia knit

9. Have A Rock Star Moment

10. Try 1 extreme sport

11. Write a screenplay

So I threw in an extra one, but one must reach for the stars.
