Now's The Time To Think
We are kicking of a week of Thanks and that means food, family, and shopping. I realize that everyone is in the same frame of mind. This year we are going over the river and through the woods to grandma's house. It will be a fun filled day of food, music, laughing, and hopefully some knitting. In the past I never would even consider getting up to catch those Friday bargains, but now that there kiddos in our lives...........this still remains to be seen (still thinking on this one).
My project(s) that I am thinking of taking with me are Mitt Envy , a fantastic free knitting pattern from knittywhipped. I am trying out my Noro Kuryon sock yarn for these. I might even have enough left for a neck warmer?? We shall see.

I thought these would be nice portable knits that could be done while the game is on and we are just grazing for the rest of the the day.

Knitting Pleasure
Last night I sat down with some knitting and a movie to watch with my hubby. By the time Iron Man was over, so was my project. I have my first calorimetry!! It is perfect for winter. Small enough to keep in your coat pocket and keeps those ears nice and warm. This was a fantastic stash buster for me. It would also be a great last minute gift to knit.

Getting Ready For Winter
While doing a little holiday shopping, I came across these cute longies. I thought they would be perfect winter. Perfect for those extra chilly days, hanging at the lodge, or a great layer piece for playing in the snow!

A simple front, but then a very cute surprise when you turn around! These longies were made by sheep in a heap. Be sure to check out her other cute longies and handmade clothing sets for kiddos!Friday, November 14, 2008
A Week Of Knits
I have to admit that I am very happy and thankful that I escaped the Hope College Plague this week. Huge sigh of relief.
I have finished my sweater!!! It does need some blocking and a button. I think that the blocking will help the edges to lay nice. It is super soft and will be great to have on hand this winter. I am thinking of the next project. It might have to be this cute headband. The pattern is free on KNITTY
and it seems like a good stash buster. It is also good to have a project that provides some instant gratification.

Little Greenie
I am making some progress on my Shalom Sweater on Ravelry. The yarn I am using is a discontinued Rowan yarn called Cork. It is a very bright green. I thought it would be a fun color to have in drudge of winter. This knitting project has been just what I need with the busy life going on.
On a bazaar note there is a huge Norovirus outbreak going on at Hope College. The campus is very close to where I work. 400 students have come down down with this yucky g.i. flu and they have closed the campus until Wednesday! I will be the crazy hand washing lady at work today. I guess we will find out in the next couple of days if I will be one of the lucky ones to escape. In the meantime I am taking my food and drinks from home. I know it may seem a little paranoid, but if mama gets sick then no one is happy!!

Here It Comes
Our world is less and ideal, but we are making progress. The work is slow and sometimes trying, but we see results. I cannot wait to have our kitchen table back and things are back under control. After the floor goes in we only have 2 major things standing in the way. Our back splash and getting the butcher block put on one section of counter top. I hope to have that ordered today and then pick it up on Tuesday. I did pick a color for my furniture piece. I love how rich and warm this color is!!! Ahhh Benjamin Moore, you have done it again. Also we have the window treatments all picked out! Maybe later this week things will start to feel like home again!!

It's A Beautiful Day
Decisions! Decisions! Decisions! Now that all the hard voting decisions are done, it is time to figure out what I am going to paint a fantastic piece of furniture I aquired. I hope to get started on that tomarrow. Lately the weather here has been OUTSTANDING!! I cannot believe that I live in Michigan and the temps have been in the 70's. That is crazy for November. To help celebrate we went for a hike with some friends from J.D.'s preschool. We had such a great time!! Here is one of my favorite shots of my little, little man. He walked around with his little leaf friend for a while. It was GREAT!

A BIG BIG DAY!!!!

Today is the big day!!!! Time to go out and make your voice heard. I don't think I have ever been this excited about an election. My 4 year old is asking all kinds of questions and it is great. I think he may take a trip with me to the voting booth to see how this all works. NPR is going to be on in the house and the car ALL DAY! I am such a dork. Anyway, I hope that everyone has a great experience and those lines move fast!!!

A Happy Halloween
It has been a little busy around here. Halloween was a blast! The kids had a great time and did the parents. These kiddos love them some Star Wars. We had Boba Fett and Yoda this year. They hit the neighborhood for about an hour and a half and made a haul in candy. Now they are all ready thinking about a Christmas list!!! That is just crazy!
We are continue to plug away at the kitchen. More painting and this week the floors go in!!! YEAH! Then I start to organize and we can start to live a normal life. In the meantime,
I hope to be a better blogger this week.
