Wow! The DoodleScarf gets a little love!

We are featured on The Mommy Review http://themommyinsider.typepad.com/

Our DoodleScarf is on the front page and got a very nice review and is also part of the holiday gift guide :-)

How exciting! Today I finished up two more scarfs for the store, but maybe I need to work on a couple more. We also have an open house coming up on the 6th. Also we cannot forget about our sale starting tomarrow!! Yikes, I guess the holidays are here!!

Oh The Colors!

Here are my winnings from my hard fought christmas shopping battle. What to do with all this fabric goodness?? I see some baby sets and more Doodlescarfs coming our way! Also please check out a little etsy promo on Dec 1 -8. The etsy bloggers are having a sale for the holidays!! Doodlesprouts is offering 10% off selected items in the store. Okay end of shamless promo.

I guess it is time to get back to the machine and get some of this going :-) I did manage to squeek in a little personal knitting my socks and boy is the alpaca yarn so yummy! I am about ready to turn the heal on sock #1.

It has been a busy week with the kiddos and getting back into the swing of things, but J.D. seemed ready for school this week! I also know Anna has had a hard week. Her family has been battleing a sick bug - UCKY! It just can really wear a mom out! She is taking a little break to feel better and to re-energize. We hope to have flurry of activity within the next few days!!!

Cheers!

Gettin' ready for the holidays

The holiday are here! Let the crazy begin. The kids are pumped up and so are we. This weekend we shared food, family, and we got the tree up! Great times. Now we are in full creative mode.
Two new baby sets are on the way and we think these are too cute, so stay tuned. They should be up this week in the store. Also I did a little day after Turkey day fabric shopping :-) We hope to get some new DoodleScarfs produced! I think our knitting needles and sewing machine are on fire right now! Not much time for personal knitting, but the socks are still coming along and a couple of other projects as well. Our LYS was having a little sale of their own and I picked up a copy of the book.....
I cannot wait to try something new. I do knit my socks on 2 circs, but I am dire need of new patterns!
Hope to have some new pics up this week so please check back soon!
Cheers!

Finished Socks!

(sigh!) There is nothing like the satisfaction of finishing a pair of hand knit socks! They feel great on the feet and they are so much fun to knit! You just never know what wonderful goodness will transpire as you watch the color and patterns appear! I know that the stripes don't match up, but I am okay with that. I was just having a lazy moment and did not feel like dealing with it. But, I think it is okay. I love that there will be a new pair of socks for the holiday weekend!

I have already started a new pair on the needles. It is from the New England trip stash! It is alpaca yarn and I am loving it so far. It is so soft that I just keep petting it as I work!

The sock yarn is the blue/green/orange color. I am not sure what the other yarns are going to turn into yet. It is always nice to get something done just for you. I also do have a hat to knit for a new set that is going into the shop. It is a really fun, bright green made from the Puffin fleece yarn. Such a soft yarn to work with!!!

Thanks for sharing in my knitting accomplishment!

Cheers.

Our first Christmas Set!

Our first holiday baby set is here! Anna worked so hard on the hat and I think it turned out super cute! It is so soft and sweet. We saw this fabric months ago and thought it is was fun. Not very traditional in holiday colors, but the retro feel of the print and colors was to cute to pass up.

I also finally finished my socks!!! I hope to have pictures up shortly and a blog dedicated to the joys of sock knitting. So now we are just working on finishing up some items. Anna is very busy knitting more hats for folks requesting her talents. I have a blanket to work on. I do need to pick up some more fabric for that one. I also have a DoodleScarf for girls to finish up. It just never ends! We are so thankful we can keep doing this! It is a fun creative outlet.

On a family note, it is time to gear up for Thanksgiving!! There is no school this week so J.D. is home and that might make things a bit more tricky to get things done. I have to figure out what dish to take to our family dinner. Time to hit those cookbooks or allrecipies.com. I admit, I do love Thanksgiving! I love the food, family, and fellowship! Good Times. That is all for now!

Cheers!

Putting the FUN back in Functional!

So our new DoodleScarfs are done and we are super excited about them!! We concentrated on the guys this time. We had fun picking out flannel for these scarfs! I think Carter make a great model. Whatta think? America's Next Top Male Model???!!!
So, as you can see from Anna's last post she is ONE busy lady. We do have a very cute, very pink scarf on the way. She is swimming in hat world. I need to be cranking out some diaper cloths, but instead I am on the computer doing the promoting thing. Just needed to break and blog. UMMM a little B&B. Sip some nice hot apple cider on a chilly fall day! Yeeaaa, I'm procrastinating. Also I have family coming in this weekend, so it is time to whip the house into shape. Our laundry is of monumental proportions! (how did that happen??)
(pause) I think I just talked myself into getting some stuff done around here! Off I go.....................
Cheers!!

My To Do List

My Goals for this week:
1. Finish the mauve hat - this is a must. It is half way complete - no more excuses! It's great yarn, pretty color, easy pattern.

2. Hand stitch the pockets on our newest Doodlescarf (here's the before picture). Very girlie and pink. Look for it in our Etsy shop soon!
3. Photograph the hat with it's other pieces to complete our holiday baby set.
4. Photograph the scarf.
5. Knit two baby hats for a friend to give as a gift - twin boys!
6. A friend of mine had a sweet baby boy on Halloween, so I need to knit him something too!

Just a couple things really - no biggie! Haha.

Monkey See, Monkey Do!

Well, sweet little Joely sees her mommy drink a Starbucks from time to time - so what does she want? A grande caramel mocha for herself of course. I just wash out my cup when I''m done and give it to her. I can see the day coming when we pretend hot chocolate is coffee - watch out for the sugar buzzed baby!

Joely's favorite things are things we like - Daddy's computer equipment, tv remotes, and XBox games, her big sibs Nintendo DS, playing Webkinz on the PC with them and Carter's pokemon cards, Mommy's coffee, cell phone, ipod, Bible and make up. Are these normal interests from a almost 15 month old? What do you get her for Christmas when toys do not hold her attention.

The Craft Show (that did not go so well)

Well, the show did not not go. It did not go well at all. So it is time to move on and learn from our experience! I say that and yet I feel so rejected! Not ONE item sold this weekend. Man, that is a tough one to take.

I think that we are getting over things and that life goes on. We are already moving forward with new DoodleScarfs and we just finished a very cute new set! In the month of December we are doing a house party with a friend and that should just be a good time. Just hanging out and meeting new people. Things seem more at ease with some food and friends around! It is time to give the shop some love this week and start this ball rolling again! I have family coming in this weekend and Anna is knee deep in crazy! Let the holiday good times roll!

On the knitting front...... I am ALMOST done with my socks! I cannot wait to finish. I have some super yummy alpaca yarn that is going to make feet very happy!!!

I guess now I feel more like..........

Thanks for letting me vent! And now moving onward and upward!!!

Craft Show Crazy!

This is turning out to be one crazy fun week. A wonderful friend of mine is taking some Doodlesprouts items up north to a local craft show. There she is hoping to sell a few items for us. We are nervous, but excited to see how it all turns out! In the meantime our shop is looking very, very sad (insert pouty face here)! We are almost done with one set. From Anna's last post we just have one hat to go. She is such a fantastic knitter. Everything she does is great! I have been working on new Doodlescarfs for the holiday season. With that being said it is time to get back to work! (Sound of whip cracking!) Stay tuned and wish us luck!!

Fresh Off the Needles

Whew! I love a finished product. I took an old pattern and adapted it to make it my own. After knitting several hats with a roll brim, it was fun to try a new look. The ruffle was quick to knit and looks very pretty. Next on the needles is some gorgeous yarn in a mauve color. I haven't worked with this yarn yet, it has great texture - I'm excited to experiment with it. I haven't conceived the design of this hat, but I do hope to complete it tonight. My precious one year old has been quite demanding today so... an early bedtime is in order!

The Kirk Brothers Halloween

Hope that everyone had a fantastic halloween! We had a great time this year. The boys and I headed out to Holland to trick or treat in Grandma's neighborhood. We did have to start out in the rain, but it cleared up. The rain was NOT going to stop these guys. So this year J.D. repeated his Thomas The Tank Engine costume. It was so cute. He ran into a boy about his age in a James costume and it was funny! Rory was the star of the neighborhood as Yoda.

J.D. ran from house to house and it sure did not take Rory long to catch on as to how to get candy. J.D. was a great teacher and made sure that Rory always got a piece of candy at every house. At one point he was passing out candy to all the other kids standing at the door waiting. What a helper! I have to say the kids made a out like bandits with the candy.

I can't believe it is over. Now it is just making sure that all that candy does not get eaten in one sitting! That means keeping dad at bay as well. Thanks for checking out our Halloween!

Trick or Treat!

We had a great evening of trick or treating - lots of candy, fresh air, fun costumes, friendly neighbors, and a few sprinkles!

Our day wasn't quite liked we had hoped. Calla was home sick from school because the day before she had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic - yuck. But thankfully she was up for some trick or treating fun!

Carter was Ash from Pokemon. It was so much fun having him be so excited about his costume. He wants to keep the vest as it is. I am sure he will wear his hat over and over again too. The black hair helped transform him into Ash. He said it felt funny. It was messy because of the rain and today I have to scrub the tub. It was worth it.

Calla was a soccer player. She had a hard time deciding between a vet and a soccer player. A few friends from school, also on her team were in uniform so she wanted to join the fun. Calla loves trick or treating. She would go out for hours if she could. Just like in soccer, the rain doesn't slow her down. She never complained. After and hour out with me, she was back out with dad!

Joely was a sweet little pink octopus. She did well in her costume and stayed in it for awhile. She went trick or treating to a few of the neighbors houses and then passed out candy. Joely had a yummy sucker before the night was done - what a mess!
